As you sip your café au lait and perhaps peruse the morning press, you can plan your day exploring The Luberon.

In the centre of Ménerbes, start your day with a literary tour, a must for literature lovers. The tour lasts approximately two hours and takes you through the charming village and its surrounding countryside, visiting key sites that inspired famous writers. You will start at Maison de la Truffe et du Vin, where you’ll learn about the history and significance of this iconic landmark. Next, you will walk along the scenic trails that writers themselves frequented, stopping at various points of interest mentioned in their works. The guide will share anecdotes and historical context, enriching your understanding of the literary heritage of the region. The tour concludes with a reading session in a picturesque spot, where excerpts from famous works are brought to life.

If you are not keen on the tour, we recommend visiting Maison de la Truffe et du Vin nonetheless. Open daily from 9am to 7pm, this landmark is free to visit. As you explore the museum, you will discover the rich history and culture of truffle hunting and wine making in the region. The museum itself, preserved with care, offers a glimpse into the past with informational plaques and exhibits detailing the local traditions. Surrounding trails invite you to walk in the footsteps of truffle hunters, providing scenic views and a deeper connection to the landscape that influenced the local gastronomy.

Lunch at Restaurant Parc des Cordes

Located just a short drive from Ménerbes, visit this hidden gem for lunch. This restaurant offers outdoor dining on a lovely terrace, providing a quiet and beautiful setting away from the noise.
