What makes this town special?
Monteux has an interesting historical heritage. We enter through the new gate. Classified as historical monuments, it served as the seat of the members of the city council who dispensed justice. The walk allows you to admire the Notre-Dame-de-Nazareth church, in Gothic style, also classified as a historical monument, and the Clémentine tower, from the 12th century, which dominates the old center with its 28 meters high, and which was one of the residences of Pope Clement V. After the Porte d'Orange, you will arrive on the course that surrounds the village for a well-deserved break in one of the cafes or restaurants.
Monteux is also the capital of fireworks! It owes this fame to the fact that the greatest pyrotechnician in France, the Lacroix-Ruggieri company, has been established there since the 19th century. Each year, during the fourth weekend of August, a great pyrotechnic show of 45 minutes. Unique in France, the Monteux Fire attracts more than 40,000 spectators and is one of the biggest fireworks displays in the world!
It is possible to indulge in your favorite hobbies: hiking, mountain biking, cycling or horse riding. Wandering the trails in the heart of the Comtat Venaissin leaves an unforgettable memory with so much to see! Thrill seekers will embark on a tree climbing, a via ferrata, or discover paragliding.
Two amusement parks welcome you to Monteux and will delight young and old in the heart of summer. Parc Spirou, dedicated to the famous Belgian comic book character, and Wave Island, a water park full of surprises!
