Between Avignon and Orange, Châteauneuf-du-Pape spreads out at the foot of the remains of its fortress. Overlooking the plain of Comtat and its 3,000 hectares of vines, this village is practically entirely devoted to the famous wine "Châteauneuf du Pape" In the 14th century, on the initiative of John XXII, the Popes chose Chateauneuf to build their summer residence, and decided to plant a vineyard on the stony soils that surrounded their property.
