What makes this village special?
The village has small squares lined with pretty houses. But it's the old part, the old village, that will delight you! The climb to the dungeon via a calade staircase, and the visit of the Saint-Roch chapel, from 1726, next to the Porte d'Autanne, then the ramparts path, from 1123, are the assurance of a nice walk and discover incredible views of Mont Ventoux and Saint-Andéol hill.
The Cairanne tourist office offers four discovery tours of the old village, from 40 min to 2h30 depending on your form and your desires.
Cairanne is surrounded by vineyards. A marked route allows you to discover them, with markers according to the grape varieties: Grenache, Sirah, Mourvèdre, Cinsault for the reds, Clairette, Roussanne, Boubloulenc and Viognier for the whites. In the 19th century, the town was renowned for the quality of the fruit from its orchards and its hares. His wines were already esteemed. The winegrowers of the town obtained the Côtes-du-Rhône-Cairanne denomination in 1953, then their wine was classified as AOC Côtes-du-Rhône-Cairanne villages in 1967.
